Shot entirely on location in California maximum security prisons, Step to the Line is a documentary that aims to provoke a transformation in the spectator’s eyes about prisoners, the prison system, and even themselves.
Produced by Oculus, in association with Defy Ventures, Step to The Line, premiered at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival and selected for Sheffield Doc/Fest, FoST amongst many others totalling over 20 festivals. From mainstream and in-depth press coverage to acclaim from Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg, the film have demonstrated VR’s ability to tell powerful stories in a meaningful way, and is avaiable on the Within app. The short doc is part of the program VR for Good created by Oculus to match ten rising filmmakers with ten nonprofits, to tell their stories through VR.
